The UK Country and Americana Music chart is a monthly music chart which ranks the most popular songs in the United Kingdom released in 2022. TBCMF compile the chart in-house. We launched The British Country & Americana Music Chart on 6 May 2022; It combines data from streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.

The first song ever to top this new country and Americana chart was “I See Stars”, released by The Shires on 11 May 2022.

How popular is Country Music in The UK?

Country music has been popular in the UK for years. It’s one of the most popular genres among British listeners.

However, country music is still not as widely recognised as other genres such as Pop, Rock and Rap. Country music’s popularity is mainly because of its focus on personal stories and cultural heritage rather than trying to be a commercial success.

The chart represents the cumulative listening figures for songs released in 2022.

All types of music, from Americana to country and all the sub-genres in between, create the top 50 charts.

Our in-house team collects data from streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.

To support grassroots acts, each Artist is limited to their two most listened-to releases.

We are limited to two songs per Artist to support grassroots acts. Who might not be as well known but deserve recognition for their hard work?

If you want to listen to more music from a particular artist, we recommend that you check out their album on Spotify, Apple Music or other streaming services if they have one available!

So what do you think of the UK Country and Americana music chart for 2022? We created the chart to promote artists from the UK.

It’s a work in progress for us. We have created an algorithm that collates the number of plays and, where possible physical products for new releases from UK Artists.

The chart is a byproduct of our TBCMF New Country & Americana playlist and our research on the UK and Irish artists as we are programming the festival.

It’s slightly different from other charts as it calculates the top song so far for 2022 as a whole rather than weekly or monthly figures.

So up-and-coming talent also gets noticed; we have limited each artist to only their top two listened-to songs in 2022. Some of our more prominent country stars easily take more than two spots in the chart with the release of a successful album

Our team compiles the UK Country And Americana Music Charts in-house, and qualifying lists are updated weekly.
